ICAI New Scheme · applicable May 2026 attempts
  1. Indian Regulatory FrameworkOverview of the legal system and sources of business law — short chapter, often 2–3 theory marks in the exam.
  2. The Indian Contract Act, 1872Offer, acceptance, consideration, void agreements — the biggest chapter in this paper and a guaranteed 15–20 marks.
  3. The Sale of Goods Act, 1930Conditions vs warranties, transfer of property, unpaid seller — 8–10 marks and heavily case-based in MCQs.
  4. The Indian Partnership Act, 1932Formation, rights, dissolution — overlaps with Accounts partnerships, so this chapter rewards students who do both papers together.
  5. The Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008LLP formation, partners' liability, conversion — relatively short, good for picking up easy marks quickly.
  6. The Companies Act, 2013Incorporation, types of companies, MOA, AOA — high weightage chapter; overlaps with what you'll see deeper at Inter.
  7. The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881Cheques, bills, promissory notes in law (not accounting) — ties directly to Bills of Exchange chapter in Accounts.
